Pausa / Break

Fiquem bem.

Hi. No I haven´t given up the blog or disappeared. This has been a forced break due to health reasons - a rather long recovery that doesn't allow me to sit in front of a computer for long periods of time. Nevertheless I just stopped by to say hello and also to thank Linda from Pane, Amore e Creativitá for posting one of my bags. I hope to be back soon with more crafts to share with you. Be well.

E é nessa fase que me encontro.

Hi! Organization can be seen from two basic angles depending on your personality. A must, if you are more of a OCD kind of crafter. Or an unattainable almost nirvana-like state, if you are more of a creative-in-the-middle-of-the-mess crafter (like me sorry to say). But at least at two moments in time both types share the same stage of organization. In the middle of a project even the tidiest crafter has no choice but have some disarray of his/her space. When the craft space has reached a point when it looks as though some natural disaster has gone through it, and you need special investigating skills to find a simple brush, not even the most disorganized artisan can escape from some sort of declutter/organization maneuver (even if it's just to maintain some sanity). So that's where I'm at. In the middle of a craft-space-declutter attempt. When I began writting this post, it was supposed to be a before and after one. But looking at the pictures the word pandemonium came to mind together with the notion that all of you kind visitors would flee in horror :)) Instead I've decided to start a sort of a series showing the results of transforming some of the "garbage" I had in that (micro)space. So today I'm showing you what came out of the first attack to the scariest pile. Yes you've guessed it: magazines.

Slowly the pile is modeled into rolls...kept (for now) in PET plastic bottles...

... or into rings that are slowly taking shape to be a parte of other projects...

Another pile to eliminate is the one with the boxes...Oops, that's a scene of our next episode... Stay tuned ;)

Publicada no Craft Gossip/ Featured on CraftGossip

Hello, hello. These last couple of weeks I have been featured on several places. Now I have been featured on Craft Gossip. And to think that I started this blog just for fun and suddenly I overcame 3000 visits and an ocean ;) I'm so happy that I can't even write about it :))) Guess I'm more of doing things than describing them so stay tuned because more creations are coming. And already someone asks about Christmas... since it is still so hot I think it is a sign that they are anxiously waiting to find one (or more) of my works wrapped and waiting under the Christmas tree... See you soon.

Still on the subject of presents although , in this case only the “wrapping” was recycled, here is one for a friend that recently graduated from the university. She asked me to sign the traditional graduate students’ ribbons  and (shame, shame) I only finished it now. My timing was actually good because she presented her thesis this week and with an excellent grade. So I decided for a bouquet of her favorite flowers – one  that would not wither ;)

A fita.
The ribbon.

A embalagem.
The packaging.

Parabéns / Congratulations Mariana.

Recycling masters

E fica aqui a minha homenagem.

Today I want to speak to you of the creators of the greatest recycling work.

True masters that build their art bit by bit each and every day.

Those that each day clench their teeth and walk along the same street where just the day before they were stoned, insulted, humiliated.

Those that saw their life turned upside down by a catastrophe (natural or human) and started again from scratch, often in a foreign and hostile land.

Those that bravely face the people that reject them because of a body changed by a more or less serious disease.

Those that after leaving a loved one seriously ill in the hospital, put on a smile to calm and reassure the rest of the family that waits anxiously at home.

The gentle and kind that keep being so with people that believe that kindness and gentleness is not enough and a pocket full of money is better.

Those that are able to avoid insulting a relative that invited them to be their guest in a hour of need, and then decided to be utterly disrespectful.

Those able to avoid insulting a relative that decided to be utterly disrespectful, just because he/she made them their guest in an hour of need.

Those that keep being good professionals after seeing the bosses take advantage of their hard work and giving the promotion to another colleague saying “you need to work more”.

Those that face prejudice, envy, hypocrisy, cynicism, wickedness and evil-speaking every single day.

But despite all that are still capable to reinvent themselves day in day out, transforming each scar into a beauty feature.

No self-help books or miraculous recipes.

Just themselves.

Those are the true recycling crafters.

And this is my tribute to them.
